Call to Artists!

Fine Arts on the Lawn

 

Artists! You are invited to participate in the Cooperstown Art Association’s annual Fine Arts on the Lawn show. This Labor Day Weekend exhibit will take place Saturday and Sunday, September 3 & 4,

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily. The show is held rain or shine on the lawn and front porch of the CAA and Village Library Building located at 22 Main Street in Cooperstown. This annual show runs concurrently with the Labor Day Arts and Crafts Show in Cooperstown at the Clark Sports Center.

 

The CAA is proud to offer artists 2 options for showing their work!

 

1)  On the Porch - Artist members of the Cooperstown Art Association are invited to exhibit up to 5 framed original works on the front porch with sales and set-up taken care of by the CAA.  Unframed and shrink wrapped originals are also allowed with a flip rack.  No offset reproductions will be accepted.   Drop-off for porch exhibitors is Friday, September 2nd, 11-4p.m. and Saturday, September 3rd, 8:30-9:30a.m. Pick-up is Sunday, September 4th, 5-6p.m. There is a registration fee of $10 before September 3rd and $15 the day of the show.  The CAA reserves the right to retain a 30% commission for all sales resulting from the show.

 

2)  On the Lawn - Artists may also apply for a 10’x10’ tent space on the front lawn, where they will be responsible for their own display, sales and set-up. There is a $100 booth fee as well as a short application. 

 

Any Artist who would like to participate in the Fine Arts on the Lawn is asked to pre-register with the CAA by July 30th. Opening This Friday!

Join us this Friday, July 15th from 5-7pm for the Preview Party of 76th Annual National Juried Exhibition.  Awards will be presented at 6pm.  Catered by Danny's Main St. Market & Music by Mary Doherty.  Gallery Talk & Tour with juror Mary Anna Goetz from 4-5pm.  We are very excited to offer a limited edition full-color poster commemorating our 76th Annual National Juried Show! The 11x17 poster features images of all 103 pieces that were accepted this year by jurors James Cox & Mary Anna Goetz. Hand Prints Summer Art Classes

for children ages 7-12

Glass Wind Chimes with Wendy Reich
Tues. & Thurs. | July 19 & 21 | 1 - 3pm
Members: $45 | Non-members: $50
In this two-part class students will learn the basics of working with stained glass mosaics.  Students will cut, glue & design with stained glass tiles and copper wire to create a brilliant windchime/suncatcher.  Students need to bring personal eye protection (safety glasses).

Mural Painting with Martha Sharer
Tues. & Thurs. | July 26 & 28 | 1 - 3pm
Members: $45 S Non-members: $50
The young artists will be guided through the process of creating a mural while learning about design and color.  The theme of the mural will be “Summer In the Countryside”.

Leaf Casting with Wendy Reich
Tues. & Thurs. | August 2 & 4 | 1 - 3pm
Members: $45 | Non-members: $50
Students will mold and sculpt cement casts of locally found leaves in this hands-on class!  In part two students will clean and paint these hard casts.  Participants will need to bring rubber or heavy duty latex gloves.

Fantastical Creatures with Doug Jamieson
Tues. & Thurs. |August 9 & 11 | 1 - 3pm
Members: $45 | Non-members: $50
The instructor will show you step-by-step how to draw your favorite creatures, real or imaginary!  Lions, dragons, monsters, unicorns and more!
