Two Exhibits to Open at the CAA

“Made in New York” & Paintings by Chad Grohman

The Cooperstown Art Association is excited to announce the opening reception of two new exhibits on Friday, August 24th from 5-7pm. Gallery A will be showcasing the 21st Annual Made in New York:  Style & Decor” fine craft invitational show. “Style & Decor” is entirely devoted to one-of-a-kind functional and non-functional creations in all media that relate to decorating chic spaces and embellishing glamorous ensembles.  Featuring work by 35 talented local and regional craftspeople you will find furniture, jewelry, lighting, vessels, apparel, hats, tiles and wall hangings that are sure to delight!

In Gallery B, Chad Grohman of Buffalo, NY will be exhibiting his original gouache paintings, “Between Cities”.  “Between Cities” was made to celebrate the natural environment of Upstate New York, specifically the areas between Buffalo and Cooperstown. The paintings show a larger expansion of space between residence and limited human activities. This was primarily inspired by the open spaces of Cooperstown and natural spaces of Buffalo.  The work began by observing the gaps of development along the NYS Thruway. “I envisioned an expansion of the landscape where the proximity of homes and business widened. Especially in the dense city areas and suburbs. I prefer a simple, decorative approach to painting to evoke a basic point of view,” states Grohman.

Both exhibits will run through September 21st. The CAA Galleries are located at 22 Main St., Cooperstown. Special Gallery Hours for Labor Day Weekend are Daily 10-5pm.  Regular Gallery Hours: Open daily 11-4, Sunday 1-4. Closed Tuesdays after Labor Day. For more information please call (607) 547-9777.  Visit our website at www.cooperstownart.com.
