Jules Feiffer 1929 - 2025
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jules Feiffer, a true legend in the world of art and storytelling. Jules brought unparalleled brilliance and creativity to every endeavor, and we were profoundly honored to collaborate with him in his later years.
In April 2023, we had the privilege of showcasing Jules' work in the exhibit "Oops! Too Late!" at the Cooperstown Art Association Galleries. This playful and deeply emotional display of his recent drawings captured Jules’ signature spontaneity, movement, and heart. His sketches, led by Fred Astaire’s dancing figure, invited viewers into a world of joys, sorrows, and unfiltered creativity—a pure expression of Jules’ artistic spirit.
Through his exhibit, contextualized by insightful panels from the Cooperstown Graduate Program, Jules shared not only his artistry but also his soul, allowing us to witness his profound perspective on the world around us.
Jules’ contributions to art, from his iconic Village Voice comic strip to his Pulitzer-winning editorial cartoons, have left an indelible mark on the world. His collaboration with our organization was a testament to his lifelong dedication to inspiring audiences, young and old, through creativity, wit, and honesty.
As we reflect on his extraordinary life, we send our heartfelt condolences to his family and celebrate his enduring legacy that continues to move and inspire.
An interview conducted by the CAA's Gallery Manager, Daniel Francis, for The Freeman's Journal shortly after Jules' relocation to Otsego County in 2022 can be found HERE.
