TUESDAY, APRIL 5 @ 7pm:

Colonna-Mollin Duo

John Colonna is a pianist, composer and educator. He studied classical piano as a young man with Vivian Harvey Slater, pianist at Colgate University (commuting from his hometown of Morris NY to nearby Hamilton, NY). After hearing the beautiful rhythms and harmonies of jazz and world music his focus changed and he graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Jazz Composition. After performing across the country in a variety of venues and genres, he attended New York University to study with Don Friedman, the late great jazz pianist. Since receiving his master’s degree from NYU he has performed with his group (the John Colonna Quartet), the Blake Fleming Trio (The Mars Volta, Sean Lennon), Renaissance Church in Harlem and has taught at SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College. He has also been active playing with many Chinese rock and pop musicians including Wu Hong-fei (imprisoned for her protest against the Chinese government) Eric Moo, Kevin Lin, Theresa Carpio, Rose Liu and Jesse Liu. John's playing reflects a virtuosic and heartfelt approach to improvisation, strongly influenced by Michel Petrucciani, Bill Evans and Oscar Peterson.

Rich Mollin (double bass and bass guitar) has played both classical and jazz music on the highest level with many of the luminaries of both styles. He has played with the Catskill Symphony for 19 years and was the music director of the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown, NY for 9 years. Recently he has been playing with Mark Kramer (Eddie Gomez) and John Colonna. He teaches bass at SUNY Oneonta. Rich is Music Director of the Davenport Center for the Arts, which is a destination for gatherings of regional, national and international jazz artists to perform, record, and live stream.

Please Read! Studio Covid Policy Update

Studio Covid Policy Update!
‌

The clay studio will be moving to an optional masking policy starting this Monday, April 4, 2022. We will go forward with this policy, but will adapt to the current state of Covid in the community.

*We will still require proof of vaccination in the studio for both open studio and classes.

We will have masks available in the studio still for anyone in need. We also ask studio community members to use your best judgement to protect others. If you fell unwell or are showing signs of illness please refrain from coming to the studio.

We also know coming into spring/summer that allergies are prevalent. If you find yourself showing those symptoms (e.g., coughing, sneezing, etc.) we ask that you wear a mask.
