Meet the Artist, Sasha Glinski Saturday, May 3, from 2-4pm at the Cooperstown Art Association     About Sasha Glinski Sasha Glinski is a visual artist fascinated by the ever-changing landscapes of Central New York. She came to Cooperstown in 2014 for a scenic painting internship with the Glimmerglass Festival, and has been lucky enough to work full time with the company as Scenic Charge Artist since 2021. Her fine art work is primarily oil and acrylic painting, focusing on capturing light through the lens of memory. You can find her at the Cooperstown Farmers Market on a monthly basis, vending original paintings as well as prints, stickers, and cards. "I am so excited for the opportunity to share this set of paintings at the Cooperstown Art Association. Otsego County is the place I've found my artistic voice, so it feels really good to be presenting FROM BACKYARD TO BOG in a setting that it couldn't have existed without. One of the best things about making art in a small community is hearing the personal connections that people have with the subject matter, when someone points their finger into the world of a painting and says, "I know someone who lived in that house!" In that moment, it all comes full circle. This fleeting moment in time that's captured my attention, that I've brought home and precisely keyed in on the color scheme and texture and light to present it as I remember, has grabbed someone else's attention and made them feel at home enough to share a memory close to them. It's a big part of what feeds me as an artist, and so I truly think this show couldn't have happened without this community. Though many people study Sacred Geometry through intellectual understanding, this workshop will focus on the creation and the meditation upon these images. In this workshop, you will learn to draw the Flower of Life, 12 Pointed Circle, Star Tetrahedron, and the Lotus of Life utilizing a compass and a ruler. What is Sacred Geometry: Many teachings describe Sacred Geometry as the blueprint of creation, the very foundation of all form and structure in existence. The ancients believed that the act of drawing these sacred patterns was essential to the education of the soul, unlocking deeper awareness and higher consciousness. These symbols—woven into the fabric of our universe—are not merely shapes; they are energy, light, and profound spiritual codes that can heal, awaken, and transform. I encourage anyone interested in Sacred Geometry to experience drawing it themselves. About Cynthia: About Cynthia Marsh: A lifelong artist, muralist and educator, Cynthia has exhibited her work in the NY area for over 20 years where she also painted many public murals. After moving to Colorado in 2010 she became a Forensic Artist in an effort to use her talents in service to others. Cynthia has worked on cases for over a dozen law enforcement agencies and has been featured on several news stories about her work as a forensic artist. She has been a presenter at the Denver Museum of Art, The Denver Museum of Nature and Science, The Denver Botanic Gardens, at CU Boulder and at many Forensic Conferences, schools and Law Enforcement Departments. Her skills as a forensic sketch artist have also been applied in documenting the memories of contactees and near death experiences. Cynthia’s current work began years ago when symbols and sacred geometries were shown to her in dreams. This evolving body of work represents Cynthia’s best effort at stepping out of the way, and allowing the dreams to come through without judgment, much like the work she does as a forensic artist, documenting the memories of others. THE COOPERSTOWN CENTRAL SCHOOL ART EXHIBIT APRIL 26 - MAY 9   Opening Reception: Art & Music Night on the front porch & lawn of the CAA Friday April 25, 5-7pm The Cooperstown Central School Art Exhibit K-12 Artwork On Display April 26 - May 9 The tradition of the Cooperstown Central School Art Exhibit continues with an exciting outpouring of talent for 2025, representing artwork by students K-12. Come and enjoy the students' enthusiastic and creative expressions that will fill the upstairs ballroom gallery with color through May 9. Art & Music Night on Friday, April 25, from 5-7pm gives students the opportunity to showcase their visual art and musical accomplishments. There will be music performed by CCS students on the porch with food and drink provided by FOMA in the ballroom. Enjoy Figurative Connections by Scott Magin in Gallery A “Figurative Connections”, in Gallery A, is a retrospective of Scott Magin’s prints and paintings created over the past decade coupled with three stand-alone print series titled, “I-Town Jammers,” “NYC Waterways,” and his most recent work, “Dance Party.” He is particularly interested in figurative narratives, striving to capture a depth of human experience in a seemingly single experience, the many moments that live within a moment. Through the examination of individual states of being and the interactions people have with each other and the world around them, he contemplates how a look, a pose, or simple expression can shed light on an individual’s inner thoughts, and in turn, allow him to reflect on his own. This exhibit will be on display through May 7 during our Gallery Hours. From Backyard to Bog by Sasha Glinski in Gallery B “From Backyard to Bog”, in Gallery B, by Sasha Glinski is a collection of oil paintings made over the last five years. The subject of the work is the easily overlookable, everyday sights of Otsego County, although it occasionally stretches as far as Western New York or California. If you look up when you take out the trash, through the window on a snowy night, or under the tall grass of a bog, you might just see something spectacular. This exhibit will be on display through May 7 during our Gallery Hours.
