Fall Art Classes at the CAA!
The Cooperstown Art Association is pleased to announce its fall semester of classes which begins September 14th! Classes are held in our upstairs classroom space at
Open Drawing Group with Live Model
Monday Evenings
Year Round
7:00 - 9:00pm
$10 donation per class
Artists of all skill levels are invited to sketch from a live model without an instructor. This group is perfect for those looking for a creative outlet or to hone their drawing skills! Please call the CAA before attending. Classes are subject to weather and model availability.
Plein Air Oil Painting with Mary Nolan
Wednesday Mornings*
6-Weeks, September 14 – October 26
10:00am – 12noon
$160 for Members / $165 for Non-members
This is a 6-week class for the student with past experience with oil painting and is taught onsite with the location changing each week. Students are given the opportunity to learn the techniques of oil painting while working from life. Class will not be held October 5th.
*Schedule flexibility is required due to weather.
Beginning Oil Painting with David Kiehm

8-Weeks, September 28 – November 16

This beginner oil painting class will introduce painters to one of the most rich and versatile of all painting mediums. We will discuss and use many colors, brushes, mediums, tools, surfaces, etc. that are associated with oil painting. Lessons will be geared towards beginners but intermediate and advanced painters are encouraged to attend.
Watercolor Landscape with David Kiehm

8-Weeks, September 28 – November 16

This 8 - week class will focus on interpreting landscapes from photographs and concentrate on developing space & mood in landscapes.
Drawing the Head with Doug Jamieson
Thursdays
8-weeks, September 29 – November 17
10am – 12noon
$110 for Members / $115 for Non-members
Fundamentals and refinements of drawing the head with Doug Jamieson is an 8-week class. In addition to reviewing the fundamentals the class will explore charcoal and traditional red chalk on tinted paper, pen & ink, monochromatic watercolor wash as well as other mediums. There will be a live model, demonstrations, and handouts from his book as well as other material. All skill levels are welcome. Doug Jamieson is a professional artist, teacher and author of Drawing the Head: A Step-by-Step System for Drawing the Human Figure.
Introduction to Stained Glass with Dr. L. David Pye
Saturday, October 29th
One Day Workshop
10:00am – 3:30pm
$150 for Members / $155 for Non-members
Following introductory overviews on historical and modern aspects of the field of stained glass, students will engage in hands-on construction of a framed work of art involving multiple pieces of colored glass. This process will include the fundamentals of pattern design and utilization; cutting, sizing and fitting various pieces of glass; and the use of modern joining methods. All materials used in this workshop are included in the price.
