Dear Artists,
Thank you so much for your interest in participating in our 2020 season at the Cooperstown Art Association Galleries! We would like to take a moment to update everyone on the status of several upcoming exhibitions at the CAA.
The current COVID-19 situation has already impacted our exhibit season starting with the rescheduling of our April exhibits, featuring solo shows by Robert Moylan and Carol Saggese. We are trying to take this a day at a time while also planning a month or more ahead, not an easy task! Unfortunately, it has become apparent that further changes to our programming are now necessary.
Considering the number of people involved in the application, delivery and pick-up process of the Regional Juried Show "Essential Art", we have decided to reschedule the Regional Show and The Leatherstocking Brush & Palette Club Show to an October time frame. This eliminates the previously scheduled 6x6 Miniature Show for this year and places these highly anticipated shows in the shoulder of the 2020 season.
On a brighter note, we plan on continuing to move forward with the National Show. The online application process affords us the built in flexibility to mount a brick-and-mortar exhibit and/or, if necessary, a virtual exhibit that will utilize the images used by artists to enter the show. We are optimistic that our gallery space will be open by July, but the online aspect would give patrons and artists the ability to view and purchase from the show whether or not travel is advisable. Also, we may or may not be hosting upcoming Opening Receptions based upon recommendations by the state.
Please understand that our priorities are first and foremost based on the health and safety of you, our artists, patrons and staff. We hope you are all well and making artwork! We miss you here at the galleries and look forward to working with you as soon as possible!
Best Wishes,
Janet G. Erway, Executive Director
& Board of Directors and Staff
