Dear Studio Friends,
Some of you know or have seen me working on research and early pieces for a new body of work titled Retelling the Stories of Historic New York State Wallpaper Patterns in Contemporary Ceramic Art. As always, I’m so grateful for the support and inspiration that comes directly from working in a community studio with all of you, so during open studio on Monday, December 4, 2023, I’d like to invite you to join me for a short conversation about this project. During this conversation, I will share my progress so far and show some examples of previous work I have done that was also inspired by non-ceramic objects. I will talk about some of the straightforward techniques I’m using to translate elements of the wallpaper patterns into ceramic work and take questions.
This project has been made possible with public funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and administered by The Earlville Opera House.
