Little & Big Smithy’s 8 Weeks of Clay Play - In this 8-week hybrid pottery wheel and hand-building class, you will learn the basics of clay building. The first four classes will focus primarily on coil and slab construction and the second four classes will focus on the use of the pottery wheel. Students will learn simple yet effective techniques to control their clay and leave with the confidence to create multiple functional forms. Work will be finished with beautiful colored glazes. The instructor will help you build, refine, and enhance your work. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to learn the basics of clay construction on and off the wheel.

Little & Big Smithy’s 4 Weeks of Clay Play - In this 4-week hand-building class, you will learn the basics of clay building. The classes will focus primarily on coil and slab construction Students will learn simple yet effective techniques to control their clay and leave with the confidence to create multiple forms. Work will be finished with beautiful colored glazes. The instructor will help you build, refine, and enhance your work. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to learn the basics of hand-building.

For Adults...

What Inspires You? With Megan - This session is all about getting lost in the process, playing with clay, and exploring possibilities. Using examples of your favorite illustrations, ornaments, photographs, plants, animals, or other objects, we will explore recreating these inspiring things in clay. The focus of this class is hand-building/sculpture and surface decoration. Participants may choose to make hand-built functional pieces or sculptures or work on the wheel and use hand-building techniques to alter thrown pieces.

Intro to Clay with Kyle - In this 8-week hybrid pottery wheel and hand-building class you will learn the basics of clay building. The first four classes will focus primarily on coil and slab construction and the second four classes will focus on the use of the pottery wheel. You will learn simple yet effective techniques to control your clay and leave with the confidence to create multiple functional forms. The instructor will help you build, refine, and enhance your work. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to learn the basics of clay construction and then some.

Throw and Sculpt with Kyle- This 8-week pottery wheel, sculpture combo class is perfect for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. In the first few weeks you will learn how to throw basic forms such as cylinders and bowls along with advanced closed forms on the pottery wheel. Students will then unleash their creativity by creating sculptures using parts of their thrown pieces to construct a sculpture of their choice. Follow the Registration link for more details.

FREE Mini-Lessons with Laura Parker - Mini-Lesson with Larua is Free to all interested and will provided participants with an opportunity to learn new skills, refresh old skills and ask questions. We do ask that you register for each demonstration in advance. Beginner and Advanced Pottery Mini-Lessons.

Centering the Potter and the Clay with Karla - Learn the basics of wheel throwing in this fun and relaxing evening class. I’ll lead some stretching and breathing to shift from our bust day into this space of creativity. With attention to body alignment to increase safety, we will practice making multiple forms on the wheel. Throwing, trimming, glazing, and some hand-building techniques are all included in this 8-week course.

Exploring the Potter Wheel with Mairi - We will explore pottery on the wheel in this fun and inclusive 8-week class. Beginners will be introduced to clay and wheel-throwing techniques. Students will learn the technique of throwing, centering, and making cylinders, bowls, and mugs. We will move through the process of trimming, pulling & attaching handles, and glazing. Intermediate and advanced students will be guided through a technique of their choice: lidded vessels, plates, and platters, pitchers and spouts, closed forms, or planters.

Independent Study with Karla - This independent study is for students who have adequate throwing skills but who prefer to have a professional instructor available for technical questions. Participants are free to explore their own creativity on or off the pottery wheel. 

8-Week Open-Studio - Open Studio will continue as normal starting Friday, April 26th.
