We are pleased to announce a Gallery Tea & Talk presented by the Wilcoxes and Hellers on artist and former Cooperstown resident, Lisa Rodewald at the Cooperstown Art Association Galleries on Sunday, May 7th at 3pm. They will provide some history and context about her life and art while you browse the exhibit. Join us for tea and sweets and a moving tribute to Lisa Rodewald.
Before coming to Cooperstown in 1975, Lisa Rodewald was born and raised in Germany at the turn of the century, where she worked & studied under Otto Mueller and other noted Die Brucke artists. She became known for her watercolors and dynamic stitchery, or "Needle Paintings". The definite nature of her imagery creates a sanctuary from an increasingly loud and over-stimulated modern environment. Sam & Hilda Wilcox, Marc & Christine Heller and others have provided works from their own collections as a tribute to Lisa Rodewald as an artist & friend. The accompanying exhibit, Off Your Walls: A Tribute to Lisa Rodewald is on display through May 17th in Gallery A of the Cooperstown Art Association. Also, not to be missed in Gallery B is Fabric of Life, a beautiful display of textiles & fabrics from the personal collection of Dr. Chris Kjolhede. While traveling abroad, Dr. Kjolhede enjoys exploring the methods and materials of local textile production. His collection exemplifies the diversity and craftsmanship within the world of fiber arts. This exhibit remains on display through May 17th. The CAA is located at 22 Main Street in Cooperstown in the Village Hall on the corner of Main and Fair Streets. Gallery Hours: 11 - 4 pm daily, 1 - 4 pm Sundays, closed Tuesdays. Please call (607) 547-9777 for more information or visit www.cooperstownart.com
