National Preview Party – Friday, July 12^th

 

Everyone is invited to attend the annual gala Preview Party and awards ceremony to herald the opening of the 78th Annual National Juried Art Exhibition! The opening reception Preview Party, catered by Dana & Kristen Leonard of Origins Café in Cooperstown, will be held Friday, July 12th from 5p.m. to 7p.m. at the Cooperstown Art Association galleries featuring music by Mary Doherty. The prizes will be awarded at 6:00 pm that same evening. 

The 78th Annual National is a juried art exhibition organized by the Cooperstown Art Association, which is open to all fine artists. The show encompasses a wide range of media including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. With entries from across the United States, the show is always both eclectic and stimulating. This year’s juror, John Magnan of New Bedford, MA will be presenting a gallery talk and tour just prior to the preview party starting at 4pm.

In addition to the National Exhibition, we will have a special exhibition case featuring the work of this year’s Cooperstown Art Association Scholarship Award Winners.  The 2013 scholarship winners are Joanna Bening of Cherry Valley – Springfield Central School who will be attending Eckard College and Julien Miller of Cooperstown Central School who will be attending SUNY Purchase.

The 78th Annual National Exhibition will be on display in all three galleries of the CAA from July 12th through August 16th and is sponsored by the Fenimore Art Museum and Brewery Ommegang.   Don’t forget to stop in our sales gallery which features an everchanging array of gems by member artists and artisans. The galleries are located at 22 Main Street in the Village Building on the corner of Main and Fair Streets.  Gallery Hours are Mon.-Sat. 11a.m.-4p.m. and Sunday 1-4p.m.  Free and open to the public.
