Students will learn the technique of throwing, centering, and making cylinders, bowls, and mugs. We will move through the process of trimming, pulling & attaching handles, and glazing. Intermediate and advanced students will be guided through a technique of their choice: lidded vessels, plates, and platters, pitchers and spouts, closed forms, or planters.

Outdoor Kiln Firing with Horse Hair & Feathers
Instructed by Kyle Pumilio
Outdoor Kiln Firing with Horse Hair & Feathers
Finish your bisque work In this one-day firing experience. We will be firing your piece in our studio’s outdoor kiln. Students will participate in loading up to 2 pieces of work. Once the kiln is brought up to the correct temperature the work is pulled out of the kiln. The work is rested on a pedal stool as the artist drapes materials such as horsehair or bird feathers over their work. The hair combusts on contact and the results are beautiful carbon-trapped designs on the surface of your work. Results are most dramatic on white clay bodies.

One day | Friday, Oct 27th | 10:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m
Ages: Adult
Level: intermediate +
Instructor: Kyle Pumilio
Tuition: $70
* The nature of this process can be volatile and the studio does not guarantee that your work won't be damaged during the firing process.
